Jean Ray Laury passed away on March 1. She was a quilting pioneer and a really great lady. The Quilter's Hall of Fame has an excellent post about her. Check it out.

Till next time.....
I remember meeting her in the 70s/80s when she was up here in Canada on a book tour...quilting and fiber arts where then considered (for the most part) old fashioned here. She was an inspiration.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this news. I cannot believe she was 81. She was such a role model and leader when I first started quilting. Life goes by so quickly. I remember her with great appreciation.
ReplyDeleteJean Ray Laury was was major force in the quilting world. I was lucky enough to meet her and be in a couple of her silk screening classes. It was an honor just to be in her presence! I own several of her books—not all are quilting books—she wrote craft books as well! How sad that another great quilter is gone.
